Make a magical winter wonderland scene with this sweet egg carton craft! All made from recyclables and lots of fun for winter crafty afternoons.
Egg Carton Craft
A little while back my eldest daughter had the idea to make a small world scene in an egg carton. Since then we have all made some together, including this gorgeous ocean egg carton craft, which I love because of the real shells and also the way she figured out how to dangle her little fish from strings!
Recently, they had an idea to make a snowy, winter wonderland scene in an egg carton this time, especially as we had the promise of snow this week only to be dashed by the weather forecasters again, boo!
To make this we simply used some empty, 6 hole egg cartons, paint, paper, tissue papers in blues and white, white cupcake cases, snowflake confetti, cotton balls and yarn.
They painted the inside of the egg cartons first with various shades of blue, and some of them added glitter glue washes over the top to make them more sparkly. Then they added some tissue paper with glue and sequin snowflakes to the background.
Then they built their own snowmen using cotton balls and PVA/ white glue to join them together. They cut out extra details from paper or card, then stuck them on too. They even added some yarn for facial details, arms or scarf.
The snipping, stacking and sticking was all great for their fine motor skills as well as making a very sweet winter craft for display! These would be great to go alongside a favourite snowman related story too.
