Number Sorting

October 4, 2010 by Anna Ranson

There’s a lot of sorting and matching going on around here at the moment. It must go hand-in-hand with turning 2.
These lovely, magnetic wooden numbers that C got for her birthday have proven a great success! She arranges them into little bowls or lays them out on a plate, then spends ages sorting them out into groups.

The colours and patterns make the numbers easy to distinguish and group together.

There’s lots of chatter and *naming the numerals while she busies herself (*attempting!)

As well as counting up how many she has in each group.

Of course, she’s not getting it right yet, but she’s having great fun. Sorting things out is a favourite activity around here.

Note to all who may try this: beware the removal of your cow-girl hat….you may get numbers stuck in your curls!
