Day 25:
Small World Play
Play Prompt:
Think back to day 1 of the challenge. What are your child’s particular interests? animals? tractors? farms? superheroes? dolls?
Put together a play area based on their interest, using toy people, cars, animals- whatever fits the theme. And play!
We quickly covered a play table with green paper and added a little lake. I set up a play barn and C. got some farm animals, to create an instant farm scene! They have been playing here every day this week, making up stories, making animal noises and altering the layout as the play adapts.
Here is a dinosaur small world play scene that we made in the past. We added sensory elements with beans, pasta, real leaves, bark and twigs to a tray with some toy animals.
How about making something like this instead? A seaside small world scene with sparkly paper, glass pebbles, real shells and some sand. An instant play scene for hours of play!
We can’t wait to see what you will create! A snowy scene? The moon? The zoo? Use boxes, a tray, a table top- whatever materials you have to hand and create a magical play space together!
[Please remember, this is just a play prompt. You are not being asked to replicate any of the ideas exactly from this 30 Day Challenge! We hope to spark an idea for an activity and give an opportunity to try something a bit different each day and the emphasis is very much on having relaxed, good fun and a really engaged play session. Remember to make it uninterrupted– turn off everything for at least 15 minutes!]

I love the beans – in the little world they really do look like rocks! We might have to give that a whirl… Mine played with trucks today, in a container of rice since it’s too cold for the sandbox. Fun, and a little messy!
Lovely! Thanks for the comment 🙂
Love this! The seaside scene is my favourite!!
I really appreciate your imagination! I work in a preschool and your ideas are met with so much enthusiasm…I use at least one of your ideas per week!
THANKS
