Have a rummage through the dressing up box (if you have one!) or your own drawers and find some interesting dressing up items. Get the whole family to put something on and then make up a story, sing a song, dance, play imaginatively together!
Ideas to consider:
You don’t need to own any ready-made costumes for this challenge. In fact, it might be more interesting to try and dress up with other items such as:
* large shoes/ boots
* scarves and long ribbons
* pieces of material for a cape or cloak
* animal masks
* necklaces, bracelets and beads
C. asked me to tie wide ribbons together and then put them into her hair, while she donned bracelets, baby toys (those beads aren’t really for wearing!) and other found objects to “look lovely for Daddy when he comes home!” She made up all sorts of elaborate stories about her outfit and danced around the room while singing songs!
This challenge works really well when you get dressed up with them too! Anything will do, from a hat to glasses, sarong or long piece of material as a cloak!
What will YOU become in your imaginative play dressing up game?
[Please remember, this is just a play prompt. You are not being asked to replicate any of the ideas exactly from this 30 Day Challenge! We hope to spark an idea for an activity and give an opportunity to try something a bit different each day and the emphasis is very much on having relaxed, good fun and a really engaged play session. Remember to make it uninterrupted- turn off everything for at least 15 minutes!]
