Let’s make a super quick space small world play using a few sensory rich play materials in a small tray. Perfect for a rainy afternoon at home with a preschooler, a space themed topic in the classroom or after school invitation to play!
If you follow me over on Instagram you’ll know that I regularly post really simple invitation to play ideas for my children, often for after school wind down time. They are currently aged 4-10 and these ideas seem to appeal equally to all of them. which means they get some screen free fun and calming, old fashioned play after a busy day.
This space small world play tray was one of those ideas and I will share more of our easiest ever ideas here on the blog as I get a chance.
How to set up a space small world play:
Materials needed:
rice dyed black (follow my one-step tutorial here for how to make this!)
mini mirror disco ball (we happened to have this and it was a fun addition, but not essential!)

Switch on the disco ball and PLAY, play, PLAY!
This is a fabulous kick-starter for imaginative play, story telling and using alongside space themed books!
Pop the lid on the tub and bring out again for another day’s play or in case of a cranky emergency!
