Here are 25 simple acts of kindness for kids to show towards others! As you know we are huge believers in teaching children to be kind and loving towards other people, and would go as far as to argue that it’s more important than their academic achievement. Nothing is more important that raising kind, thoughtful and understanding people who are ready to help shape the world into a better place!
A few years ago we took this belief one step further by coming up with the idea to use beautiful Kindness Elves to promote acts of kindness amongst children in a magical and fun way. It has become an ingrained part of our family life and our Kindness Elves come and visit all year around, not just in December for advent. Indeed, February 17th is World Random Acts of Kindness Day and the Kindness Elves love this day just as much as Christmas, if not more! What a great excuse to get kids involved in small and meaningful acts of kindness towards their family, friends, classmates and teachers and teach them the joy that comes from such thoughtfulness.

Now, more than ever, with a climate of fear and uncertainty about what the political landscape may be like in the coming years, let’s focus instead on teaching our children to always be the ones to stop, take notice and do something to make a difference in the lives of those around them every day.
Simple acts of kindness for kids really can be simple, and achievable too. They don’t need money or extravagance to set in place and should become so everyday and normal that it wold seem odd to go through day without showing acts of kindness to others! Just looking up and smiling, asking someone how they are or “can I help you?” can make a whole world of difference. Our whole KIND WORDS CHALLENGE that we have done for the entire month of February, for example, has been done using only the power of words alone.
Not simply at school, church or out in public, but at home too within the family circle (where relationships are usually their most open and least respectful!) Indeed, kindness between siblings is probably where we spend most of our effort as a family at the moment and these ideas are great for them too.
We made this printable poster full of easy-peasy simple acts of kindness for kids to show to others in their daily lives. It’s helpful for adults too and could be printed to stick on the fridge or bedroom wall, or perhaps by the front door to give ideas on the way out!
Why not join our tradition of using the magical Kindness Elves to bring some of these to life?! They arrive in your home and leave little letters suggesting things we can do to help others. You could use this list as your crib sheet! The children then read these and carry out the kind act and think of more of their own to add. They love writing back to the Kindness Elves and finding them in a new place each day!
