No Cook Apple Play Dough Recipe

Make some naturally scented, no cook apple play dough in just a few minutes! Fabulous for sensory play and great for linking to themes about Autumn, harvest, fruit and produce as well as simply having lots of fun of course!DIY no-cook apple play dough recipe. This smells wonderful!

You will know by now that we are HUGE fans of play dough and make new batches of it regularly, with various colours, scents and imaginative play set ups. Here is a link to our best ever 4 minute play dough recipe which really is so soft and lasts for ages.

To our usual recipe we simply added two apple flavour fruit tea-bags to the boiling water and left them to soak for 5 minutes before adding the water to the dry mixture. The apple tea had a wonderful scent and was made with all natural ingredients.

We made it in two batches and dyed one red and the other green. We then set these out as an Invitation to Play along with some thin sticks and small apple tree leaves found in the garden, rolling pins and wooden play fruit crates.Scented apple play dough recipe

 

They rolled lots of balls to turn into red and green apples, then started to mix some together to make a half red and half green variety.

On the top went the sticks and leaves and then they started some imaginative play.

Miss 5 made an apple and pear shop with all of her creations, selling them for the bargain price of 12p each!Apples and pears play dough play

Later we went on to use the same play dough for another fun pretend baking session which we will write about soon. It’s certainly starring to feel Autumnal here already!No cook apple play dough recipe

 

The children are: 5, 4 and 2.

What they are learning as they play:

creativity: making props for imaginative play, using one thing to represent another in pretend play, rolling balls, mixing media

physical: fine motor skills, control and coordination

    What a brilliant idea to use apple tea bags to scent the dough (they always smell better than they taste anyway)!! I’ll be using this dough with my toddler group. Thank you for coming up with so many truly imaginative ideas, I always turn to your site when stuck for inspiration, you are great!
