Christmas Tree Multiplication Game

December 13, 2018 by Anna Ranson

Make an awesome Christmas Tree Multiplication Game using cardboard and sticker dots! Simple to make and lots more fun to complete than a worksheet!  Christmas Tree Multiplication Game

We love a good themed activity over here at The Imagination Tree HQ and I think none is better than Christmas! Christmas Trees and Gingerbread Men are my absolute favourites (as our Christmas Archives will show!)

With my older girls bringing home multiplication and fractions homework fairly frequently these days I thought it would be fun to make a seasonal game out of it!

Christmas Tree Multiplication

Let’s make a Christmas Tree Multiplication Game!

You need:

large sticker dots

green card (or painted cardboard box like we’ve used here)

sharpie marker

Christmas Tree Multiplication Cut a Christmas tree shape from the card/board and write multiplication questions all over it, spaced out.

Write the corresponding answers on the sticker dots. I did one question followed by the answer as I went along so that I didn’t get confused!

Then explain the game and let them play!

My kids are funny sometimes and actually fought over who got to complete this activity! Imagine if that had been a worksheet?! I don’t think I’d be saying the same thing 😀

Thankfully there were enough on the game that Miss 6 could do herself so that she felt confident like her bigger sisters, and they shared out the rest between them (making sure they had the exact same amount of course!)

There was a need to check carefully before they placed the sticker to answer as of course the question was then covered by that point. They did make one mistake but they were able to self correct once they realised they didn’t have the correct answer left for a later sum!

There are so many ways to adapt this for different areas of learning, from letters of their name, phonics, number recognition, addition and subtraction and anything else you can think of!
