How to make some super soft and squishy 2 ingredient unicorn dough! Soooo easy and quick to make for an afternoon of sensory and imaginative play fun for little ones!
This is actually the second or third time I’ve made this 2 ingredient unicorn dough with my unicorn-loving 6 year old, and I realised that we haven’t ever posted a how to recipe here on the blog! Time to do that immediately as truly this is the easiest recipe and feels just wonderfully soft to squish in your hands!
You can watch the video tutorial right here (and could you also pop over to follow my brand new YouTube channel too?) And then read the quantities below.
How to make 2 ingredient unicorn dough:
Cornflour (Corn Starch in US)
Optional play extras: clear crystals, unicorn figurine toy
Directions:
Add 2 cups of cornflour to a bowl.
Then add 1 cup of conditioner and mix well, first with a spoon then by hand to knead it into a soft dough.
You can then choose how many colours you wish to make. We opted for 3 “unicorn” like colours, pale blue, pale pink and pale purple. I knew that these would look beautiful when mixed together (which is inevitably what the kids want to do with it!) and it actually creates a beautifully marbled effect too.
Split the plain dough into separate bowls and then a squirt of paint to each, then simply knead it in to even out the colour. All done!
We then added a liberal shaking of white glitter to each one to make them super sparkly, but that part is optional too of course!
It just takes 1-2 minutes to make this softest ever 2 ingredient unicorn dough and it (as well as variations on it!) is one of our most favourite things to whip up a batch of on a rainy or slow day indoors.
If you add a drop of two of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil too, you’ve got a great calm down tool in your hands right there!
We added crystal gems, unicorns and more sparkles to make a magical unicorn world! Miss 6 is so wrapped up in unicorns that this is her favourite way to play after school for a little wind down play time.
And for once, those colours look so beautiful mixed together- no brown sludge here!
We’ve made a version of this here on the blog before with a special ingredient for those children who have super sensitive skin and eczema type conditions. You can find that Sensitive Skin Play Dough recipe here.
And another 2 ingredient super-soft dough with a wonderful coconut scent here!

As for this 2 ingredient unicorn dough, it’s super soft and wonderful to play with but will start to dry and crumble after a couple of days. If you hold it in your hands to warm up it will actually soften again, but can also be revived further with another teaspoon or two of conditioner, kneaded well.
