Enjoy an out-of-this-world sensory play experience with this galaxy slime recipe, using UK ingredients! So much fun for a space themed play activity or as a unique party take-home gift idea too.
Just recently we discovered how easy it is to make slime using UK ingredients and wrote about the super simple 2 minute recipe.
The kids have loved making slime SO much that we’ve already made plenty of batches and have tried new colours and themes each time. We have lots of black gel food colouring so the idea of black slime was particularly appealing. Throw in some amazing sliver sequins and glitter and it turns into amazing galaxy slime!

Galaxy Slime Recipe
You will need:
1 tablespoon contact lens solution (click to find the exact one we use which works brilliantly) *Please note: Not all contact lens solutions are the same. The key ingredient to look for is boric acid; without this it won’t work*
1 cup PVA / school glue
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (baking soda in US)
Black gel food colouring
Silver star sequins and silver glitter

How to make Galaxy Slime:
Tip the glue into a clean bowl and add a small amount of black gel food colouring. Mix until you’ve got the desired colour.
Then add the bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) and mix thoroughly with a spoon.
Next add 1 tablespoon of contact lens solution.
Mix with a spoon until it starts to become stringy, coming away from the edges of the bowl
At this stage take it out of the bowl and knead it between your hands. It will start off sticking to them but within about 20 seconds it will firm up and stick only to itself, becoming elastic and super stretchy.
[If for some reason it’s still too sticky then add just a few more drops of contact lens solution until it’s just right. Be careful as too much will result in it becoming brittle and snapping.]
Now you can add in a big sprinkling of silver glitter and star sequins, ready to play!

We have these astronauts and lunar vehicles mini play set that we love and use often in space themed play set ups. They looked awesome set in the sparkly black galaxy slime and the kids loved this invitation to play!
