Make some Christmas scented art with this peppermint puffy paint recipe! It looks wonderful and air dries soft and fluffy, with added sparkle and scent too! This makes a great seasonal Christmas art and craft activity for kids to try.
A few weeks ago we made some gorgeous sparkly, snow puffy paint and loved the results of painting that onto card to make pictures! So we made some more of the same DIY recipe, this time modifying it a little to turn it into a peppermint puffy paint recipe instead!
To make the peppermint puffy paint recipe we used:
1/2 cup shaving cream
1/2 cup white, runny glue (PVA or school glue)
a large quirt of ready-mix green paint
a few drops of peppermint essential oil
a liberal sprinkling of green glitter
Simply mix it all together in a bowl and keep some glitter ready to sprinkle over the top of all the finished paintings too, as it sticks really well and adds a wonderful sparkly finish!
The girls chose to make Christmas trees with the puffy paint, and drew the outlines onto card first before tipping lots of the thick, puffy paint over the top and spreading it out to meet the edges using a paintbrush. It’s important not to spread this paint too thinly or else he puffy effect is lost. Instead, pile it up and spread it out to retain the thick volume.
Once they had finished with the paint they added coloured circles of card to represent decorations, and asked for stars to go on the top too. Then they sprinkled more green glitter all over the finished creations and we left them to dry overnight, so that they remained lovely and thick and fluffy!
No doubt we shall be trying a few more variations of this  puffy paint recipe again as it’s so much sensory, creative fun!
