Make a super-cute paper plate Christmas tree hat for holiday parties and celebrations this user! A great group craft activity to get the kids engaged before the fun starts, and a sweet little keepsake too.
This paper plate christmas tree hats are SUCH a simple party craft idea and are quite manageable on a group scale. We tried these at home last week and then took the activity along to a lovely Christmas meal with friends, where the 9 kids of a range of ages all got stuck in and made one to wear while they ate their meals!
plain white paper plates
a selection of green pens, pencils and/or oil pastels
brightly coloured stickers (or you could use large sequins and glue instead)
First of all they colour all over the inside of the paper plate, using as many greens as possible for fun! Miss 6 did another one at the party later, using stripes of different shades of green which looked fantastic. They can add whatever details they like around the outside rim of the plate too.
Then , cutting carefully through the centre of the plate, cut a Christmas tree shape out of the green section, making sure to leave the trunk attached to the rim of the plate at the bottom. If you’d prefer you can draw the Christmas tree shape first.
They can then decorate their tree to their heart’s content! If you’re feeling adventurous add some glitter and sparkles too.
Voila! The plate is ready to turn into a hat by simply popping the tree forwards to stand up as it is placed on the head.
