Here’s another play dough recipe to add to the vault, this time with the wonderful aroma of fresh mint! We used our new secret ingredient to add the scent, plus included some real mint leaves as a loose part to add to the play.

Mint play dough recipe:

2 cups plain flour

1/2 cup salt

2 tbsp vegetable oil

2 tbsp cream of tartar

1.5 cups boiling water with a Mint Tea-bag soaked in it for a few minutes

Method:

Mix the dry ingredients and stir through the oil. Pour in the mint infused boiling water slowly, stirring as you do so to mix it. Adding the water in increments will allow you to see if there is enough. Mix until it forms a dough, then turn it out onto a surface and knead it for a couple of minutes until it is soft and pliable.

I added a teeny bit of green Wilton Food Colouring too, just because the tea bag colour was very faint. This may be different depending on the brand you choose. To keep it all natural, just omit the colouring. The natural scent was wonderful and to add to it I introduced some fresh mint leaves to make an Invitation to Play tray, along with empty ice cream cones, scissors, an ice cream scoop and wooden beads.Snipping fresh mint for mint play dough

They loved the fresh mint leaves and tore them, scrunched them and snipped them with the scissors. They added these as sprinkles and decorations, or pushed them into the dough.Mint play dough ice creams activity

They started to make ice creams and wanted something to make chocolate flakes, so we added cinnamon bark strips to the tray which worked well and added another gorgeous scent to the mix!Mint play dough recipe

This dough was particularly soft and pliable, maybe due to the mint tea addition and I think it will last a long time, unless we use it up before then!
