We’ve always been fans of real Christmas trees each year, but when John Lewis offered us this one to review I was secretly quite pleased as the mess of pine needles (and faff of getting rid of the dried up tree in January) always make me grumble more than I should!
When the tree arrived it was very easy to slot together in three sections and then the hinged branches simply dropped down into place easily. The next stage of puling all the wired individual branches into the right position took quite a while but on the plus side I loved that they are so easily positioned wherever you want them to go, evenly balancing out the look of the tree to fill in any potential gaps. I was really impressed by how realistic the branches looked and the lovely, full shape of the tree.
They also sent us a range of beautiful silver, pink and turquoise glass baubles for decorating it with and they are all so delicate and gorgeous, complementing each other so well.
I just love the silver bird and the mottled effect glass hearts, with all of our favourite being the hinged heart that can be opened like a secret treasure box!
The girls love these ones so much that I keep finding them missing from the tree and hanging on their own mini tree in their bedroom, with little things squirrelled away inside! I can totally understand why!
Unfortunately I’ve now had to move lots of these glass baubles to the top of the tree because of Baby Bean and her very curious fingers, but that has meant the girls were able to add some of their old favourites to the tree too, turning it back into the marvellous hodgepodge of new and old like usual. I can’t resist the old ones as each one tells a story or carries a memory with it, and matched or not, they are all so special. Now we have some new ones to add to our collection and for the girl to one day take to their own homes and their own trees in the future.
But just for one day at least,we had a wonderfully grown up and matching tree just like this! Perfectly girly and beautiful! Thank you John Lewis for sending them to us. I think I may be an artificial tree convert from now on- just so easy, mess free and can be re-used each year (plus it looks so realistic that I keep expecting to see needles on the floor! I wasn’t expecting that at all.)
Here is a similar tree to the one that we have and here are the beautiful range of glass baubles. I believe there’s a sale on this week too!
