30 Days to Hands on Play Challenge: Have a Party!

Day 21:
Have a Party!

 Play prompt:
Have a spontaneous party for no reason at all! It could be a teddy bear’s picnic with a toy tea set and imaginary food. Invite all your child’s favourite toys, make some invitations, set out the places, turn on the music and enjoy! Or find some left over party plates and napkins and spread them out on the floor (or in the garden) and serve up some real food and drink!

We blew up some pink balloons, found some Peppa Pig plates and ate the pink cupcakes that we made together on Day 19 of the Play Challenge!

We also made some super quick paper party crowns and decorated them with feathers. You could make decorations, dress up in fancy clothes, turn on some fairy lights, listen to nursery rhymes or stories on CD…the list is endless!

Ask you child what they want their party to be like and go with it! What about inventing some games? Playing pass-the-parcel with a tiny present inside? Dancing and having plenty of jolly good, silly fun :-)

[Please remember, this is just a play prompt. You are not being asked to replicate any of the ideas exactly from this 30 Day Challenge! We hope to spark an idea for an activity and give an opportunity to try something a bit different each day and the emphasis is very much on having relaxed, good fun and a really engaged play session. Remember to make it uninterrupted– turn off everything for at least 15 minutes!]

Be sure to sign up to receive the emails directly into your inbox each morning!

It’s not too late to join the challenge! Read the original post here and go back to see what has been suggested already. Either start there or jump right in!

Tomorrow hands on: as we grow will have the challenge for day 22

Oooh I know two little people who will be very happy about this.. we have baking on the agenda (again) today, but don’t see why we can’t combine this with a pretend (or real!) tea party afterwards!!!

Who doesn’t like a special little celebration? I guess, we did the day 21 play challenge…a real (unusual) birthday party we shared today! I’m sure your children wouldn’t mind a little party every day-with the yummy pink cupcakes you made and everything! Sweet play, Anna!

A spontaneous party with the teddy bears, what fun! Your kids look like their having so much fun. It’s great that they got to be creative with this party. I think that this kind of spontaneous play and creative thinking is wonderful and it just allows for great dramatic play. :-)
