DIY: Cat Cupcakes
I made these *very* scruffy cat cupcakes for our play-date with Maggy from Red Ted Art
today! She has two cats and loves them very much, so I thought little kitties might be appreciated!
However, as I should have learnt long ago, I’m not really as good at decorating cakes as I am in my imagination (imagination is a wonderful thing.) So these are the Scruff Cats from my neck-of-the-woods!
I used white chocolate buttons for eyes, pieces of Easter eggs for ears (we had lots left over!), pink dolly mixture sweets cut and squished for the nose and black and purple icing for the details.
They’re kinda cute, if not just a touch on the freaky side. Ah well, suits us to a tee!
And because I know 3 year old Red Ted loves pirates, I made a couple of treasure cupcakes for him with yellow icing and real treasure sitting on the top!
And, not forgetting the bubbas, some miniature cakes with dolly mixtures.
150g softened butter
150g self-raising flour
150g caster sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
*Turn the oven to 180 degrees C
Cream the butter and sugar
Mix in the beaten egg and flour alternately to prevent curdling
Stir through the vanilla and milk
Bake for 15-20 minutes until springy and lightly golden on top
Allow to cool and cover with butter icing and decorations!
